What do beekeepers do? A British travel writer meets Sticky, one of New Zealand’s top beekeepers, to find out
Sticky – who was known by his real name Dave Adams before the nickname, literally, stuck – has been caring for bees in New Zealand for more than 15 years. He’s now Head Beekeeper at Manuka Doctor and responsible for the welfare of all the bees living in the company’s 10,000 hives across the country’s North and South Islands. With up to 60,000 bees in each colony, it means Sticky’s team looks after a staggering 600 million bees during peak Manuka season.
